Balance your Gimbal manually in 4 easy steps

Balancing of the structure: axis Pitch

  1. Move the clamping screw of the quick release by slightly unscrewing (about 1/4 of a turn) up to allow the movement of the slide on the quick release by keeping the camera tightly between your hands.
  2. Move your camera backwards and forwards (in the allowed side of the slide on the quick release) so that when the camera is in a parallel position to the ground and horizontal, cannot fall forwards or backwards.
    Try more times by tightening the screw of the quick release at each attempt.

Identification of the barycentre

Once obtained the balance condition, try to rotate the Pitch engine manually, by always keeping your hands near to your camera in order to avoid sudden falls. At this stage, three cases can happen:

 

  • Case 1.
    Your camera can fall forwards or backwards: unscrew of 1/4 of a turn the handpiece of regulation of the axis Pitch and lower the structure bar of aluminium Pitch by placing it in the slide of some millimeters for each attempt made, compared to the engine Pitch. Tighten the handpiece and repeat the operation up to retur to the case 3.
  • Case 2.
    Your camera can fall forwards or backwards: unscrew of 1/4 of a turn the handpiece of regulation of the axis Pitch and raise the structure bar of aluminium Pitch by placing it in the slide of some millimeters for each attempt made, compared to the engine Pitch. Tighten the handpiece and repeat the operation up to retur to the case 3.
  • Case 3.
    Your camera keeps its position: the balance condition has been perfectly reached. Go to the following step.

Balancing of the structure: axis Roll

Once obtained the balance condition of the step two, verify that your camera does not rotate to the right or to the left compared to the engine of the Roll, by always keeping your hands near to the camera in order to avoid sudden falls. At this stage, three cases can happen:

 

  • Case 1.
    Your camera fall on the right: unscrew of 1/4 of a turn the handpiece of regulation of the axis Roll and move the structure bar of aluminium Roll-pitch by placing it in the slide Roll of some millimeters to the left for each attempt made, compared to the engine Roll. Tighten the handpiece and repeat the operation up to retur to the case 3.
  • Case 2.
    Your camera can fall forwards or backwards: unscrew of 1/4 of a turn the handpiece of regulation of the axis Pitch and lower the structure bar of aluminium Pitch by placing it in the slide of some millimeters for each attempt made, compared to the engine Pitch. Tighten the handpiece and repeat the operation up to retur to the case 3.
  • Case 3.
    Your camera does not fall and keeps its position than the axis of the engine of Roll: the balance condition has been perfectly reached. Go to the next step.

Balancing of the structure: axis Yaw

Once obtained the balance condition of the step three, verify that your camera does not rotate clockwise or anticlockwise compared to the engine Yaw, by slightly tilting the handle on the left or on the right than the joystick, always keeping your hands near to the camera in order to avoid sudden falls. At this stage, three cases can happen:

 

  • Case 1.
    Your camera rotates clockwise: unscrew of 1/4 of a turn the handpiece of regulation of the axis Yaw and move the structure bar of aluminium Roll-yaw by placing it in the slide Yaw of some millimeters towards the direction of the camera for each attempt made, compared to the engine of the Yaw. Tighten the handpiece and repeat the operation up to retur to the case 3.
  • Case 2.
    Your camera rotates anticlockwise: unscrew of 1/4 of a turn the handpiece of regulation of the axis Yaw and move the structure bar of aluminium Roll-yaw by placing it in the slide Yaw of some millimeters towards the oposite direction of the camera for each attempt made, compared to the engine of the Yaw. Tighten the handpiece and repeat the operation up to retur to the case 3.
  • Case 3.
    Your camera does not rotate and keeps its position: the operation of mechanical balance has been reached successfully.
    Now you can turn on the gimbal with the engine of the Pitch on the right side of the camera, by looking in the camera frontally from the side of the optics.
